About Me

Shirly‘s work playfully explores a kind of contemporary disorientation – a sort of post- post modernism, a sensation of being overwhelmed. Her work often plays semiotic games – different signs are re-contextualised or made fun of. Her paintings and sculptures are strongly connected with the method of music and sound production, presenting a transformation between the sense of sound, space and vision. Her installations clash together multiple visual languages and ways of looking, sculptures and images appear as a symbiotic relationship. Each individual element seems ‘non-sensical’ but makes a kind of sense as a constellation of relationships.
